Environmental Education Centres
Environmental & Zoo Education Centres offer tailored, curriculum-linked programs and virtual resources to support K-12 learning.
Environmental & Zoo Education Centres (EZEC) are NSW public schools staffed by trained teachers. Depending on the unique features of their location, they provide tailored sustainability education programs to school communities. This may include incursions, excursions and professional learning activities for teachers. Dynamic programs are linked to NSW syllabus and stage groups. Find an EZEC in your local area.
To support increased online learning, EZECs developed and shared their virtual resources for schools, teachers and home educators. Designed by teachers from 25 centres across the state, there are K-12 resources available across a host of different subjects, including science, geography and wellbeing. - Wetlands Environmental Education Centre located at the Hunter Wetlands Centre west of Newcastle.
- Rumbalara Environmental Education Centre located at Gosford on the Central Coast.
- Bournda Environmental Education Centre located in the Bournda National Park on the Far South Coast of New South Wales.
- Illawarra Environmental Education Centre located in the Killalea State Park.
- Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre located on the site of the former Thalgarrah Public School adjacent to the Swallowfield Wildlife Refuge and Gara River.
- Cascade Environmental Education Centre located north-east of Dorrigo.
- Dorroughby Environmental Education Centre located north-east of Lismore.
- Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre located in the largest bushland reserve in the Ryde Municipality.
- Gibberagong Environmental Education Centre located at Bobbin Head in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
- Taronga Zoo Education Centre located at Taronga Zoo in North Sydney
- Riverina Environmental Education Centre locations at Lake Cowal Conservation Centre, West Wyalong; Wirraminna; Brungle and Wagga Wagga
- Camden Park Environmental Education Centre located on a 1600ha grazing property and including historic Belgenny Farm.
- Georges River Environmental Education Centre located at Chipping Norton alongside the Georges River.
- Wooglemai Environmental Education Centre located on the eastern edge of Nattai National Park.
- Botany Bay Environmental Education Centre located in the Visitor Centre of Kamay/Botany Bay national Park at Kurnell.
- Observatory Hill Environmental Education Centre located on historic Observatory Hill in Sydney.
- Royal National Park Environmental Education Centre located in the Royal National Park at Audley Heights.
- Red Hill Environmental Education Centre based in the historic mining town of Gulgong in the central west of NSW.
- Wambangalang Environmental Education Centre located south of Dubbo.
- Warrumbungles National Park Environmental Education Centre located in the Warrumbungle National Park, Coonabarabran.
- Western Plains Zoo Education Centre located at Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo.
- Brewongle Environmental Education Centre located in Sackville North within walking distance of the Hawkesbury River.
- Longneck Lagoon Environmental Education Centre located in Scheyville National Park north of Windsor
- Penrith Lakes Environmental Education Centre located on Old Castlereagh Road, Cranebrook, part of the Penrith Lakes Scheme.
